Welcome to the Welland Public Library's online Local History Collection.
This site, a joint project by the Welland Public Library and the Wainfleet Township Public Library, was launched in 2000. It includes an extensive collection of Welland Canal historical photographs and newspaper clippings available in the Local History collection of the Welland Public Library.
A Birth, Death and Marriage index and surname index are from local sources. Indexed sources include local newspapers from 1872 to 1934, and 1990 to the present.
The Bibliography page includes a list of books available at the Welland Public Library about the Welland Ship Canals.

This site, new in 2005, chronicles the development of Welland's industrial and ethnic history. It includes over a thousand rare historical photos and full text documents.
